Possible Opening

It was ten minutes before midnight. Emperor Fall was walking up to the meeting house with his advisor. They were discussing what order they wanted to go in for the festival this year. As they approached the gloomy building the emperor saw Emperor Summer leaned up against a wall having a smoke. He told his advisor to go ahead inside he would be right in.
Emperor Fall walked over to the smoking emperor. “Last time I saw you smoking you had just learned you were having a boy,” Fall said to Summer. The emperor did not respond he continued to look off into the night. “Can I bum one? You know I’m a social smoker,” Fall held out his hand.
Emperor Summer put the smoke in between his lips,  reached into the pocket in his coat, and grab the pack. He then opened it plucked two out, and put the pack back. He dropped one into Falls awaiting hand, and put the other behind his ear.
Emperor Fall snapped his finger and I spark came from it, and he lit his smoke. “Why so glum?” Fall asked leaning up against the wall too.
Emperor Summer didn’t respond at first. He looked up at the night sky and said, “Winter,” he fixed his gaze back to what was in front of him.
“Shit,” Fall said looking at the quite emperor. “What’s the problem?” Fall thought about what it could be. “Sum don’t tell me your worried about what I think your worried about.” Summer didn’t respond he just continued to look out over the land. Fall pushed himself off of the wall and walked in front of Summer. “How would you even know. We abolished the years just so we wouldn’t have to worry about it.”
“When he last time you looked at the moons,” Summer pointed up.
But Fall refused to look up. “When’s the last time you took a look at Winter’s heroes?” he paused. “Oh, wait you can’t. She doesn’t have any!” Fall raised his voice to the sceptical emperor.
“I have a source that says,” Fall cut him off.
“What, a source that what? Snuck into Winter’s district and hear a rumor,” Fall quickly became agitated.
“No!” Emperor Summer got loud. “I have a source that says Winter dumped all of winter gift into one soul,” he lowered his voice.
“No, no, no, no,” Fall started getting slightly worried. “If she had done that she would of, of” he began repeating himself. “That person wouldn’t be able to live,” he finally got his sentence out.
“Sure,” Summer tapped Fall on the shoulder before throwing his smoke into the boiling mot that surrounded his entrance. “Don’t forget to put that thing out,” he told Fall as he walked into the meeting house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“It’s about time Fall,” Spring teased him as he walked into the room. “Or should I call you Lord Emperor Fall,” she continued to joke. Fall shoot the empress a dirty look that made her stop.
“Great now that we’re all here let’s begin,” Summer tried to get the meeting underway. “Now what order shall we march in for the first day of the festival,” Summer waved his advisor to come over with the white board.
No one said a word. Fall and Spring were still trying to forget last year when Fall and Spring almost destroyed the meeting house because they wanted to be first. There was still golden poison ivy slowly crawling up the wall. When Emperor Summer saw it he told them that witch ever one won that person would be first in the festival. The only problem was the gold and ivy were bonded together. So they would technically both make it to the mark Summer had carved out on the wall.
“Any takers,” Summer looked around the table. Fall looked at Spring, and Spring shot a look back at him.
“I say we give the spot to Winter,” Fall said.
“I second that,” Spring jumped in. “The last time the winter district was first was waaay to long ago,” she tried not to mention the amount of years.
“What do you say?” Summer looked over at the unshocked empress.
“I know what you guys are trying to do, and, no. Summer you go first, Spring, then Fall, and I’ll go last,” she told them.
“What is it you think we are trying to do?” Fall began to pry.
“You guys want to know it I have a her-,” Summer cut her off.
“That’s a great order Winter we’ll go with that,” Summer sent I zap to Falls abdominal. Fall jumped then looked over at Summer, who was looking at the empresses.
Quickly I silence fell in the room. They could all feel the tension, but they didn’t know where it was coming from. Spring looked over at Fall who was looking at Summer. Summer was locked in a staring contest with Winter. When the other two noticed they both put their heads downs, and waved all the advisors to back away.
See they all knew that they were powerful, and when they were in their own district they were the most powerful ones. But when they came to the meeting hall there were ranks. In their earlier years it was Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring. Over the years Fall and Spring both seemed to match up. But there was always doubts about the other two, and if that order was right. Fall and Spring were known for fighting with one another trying to move up. Then there was Summer and Winter. They never fought or even matched up each other's strength. One day Winter just stated that Summer was the strongest out of all of them so he should lead the meetings, and because the other two new they couldn’t even touch her they just simply agreed.
“Okay,” Spring finally decided to break the chilling silence. “I think we should take a couple of hours and come back. It doesn’t seem like we have all of our stuff together.” She stood up. Fall immediately followed her.
“That’s fine with me,” Summer said without breaking his stare from Winter. Winter stood up still looking at the emperor. “We’ll meet back here in seven hours.”
“How about nine?” Spring asked. “It’s just you know how I feel about the number nine and,” Summer cut her off.
“Alright nine hours,” he broke his stare and stood up. “But you’ll be presenting first Spring,” he pointed at her.
“My pleasure,” she did a little curtsy.
Both Fall and Spring left out of their entrances at the same time. Winter and Summer stood in the frame other theirs looking at one another. Summer put his hand up and the ceiling dissolved.
“You may have abolished the years, but you didn’t abolish them,” he pointed up at the moons and left.
The two moons of the planet were quite low that night, and Lanu who normally shone bright and gloriously had a purple hue to it. Core the dark moon also seemed to have the same hue glowing from it.
“Shit.”
Penney's Pinky Promise
“Tell me again why you love swinging a stick around,” Penney barely got out as she collected herself from the floor. “I mean,” she inhaled deeply then exhaled, “if you ever get into any real trouble just use the mace I brought you.”
“I already told you,” her friend threw her out of shape friend a water bottle. “We have to be prepared for anything. What if our attacker was immune to mace.” She said as she twirled the stick she untwisted off of a broom.
Penney downed the whole water bottle and lazily tossed it in the recycle bin. “And I already told you,” Penney stood up and put her hands on her hips. “If the person attacking us is immune to pepper spray then we’ll just have to be on the ten o’clock news.” Her friend picked up another broom stick and threw it at her. “Or not,” Penney caught it mid-air. “Look at that Ali, I’m getting better at the whole catching thing.” Ali ran up to her amazed friend and swept her feet from under her.
“I wish you would get better with your defense,” Ali held out her hand. Penney just laid there on the floor. Refusing to take another beating. “Come on Penney one more round then we go,” she flailed her hand in the air. Penney then crossed her arms across her chest and turned he head away. “If you can get me on the ground at least once,” Ali held one lone finger in the air. “Then we can go.”
Penney looked back at her friend and held her pinky out. “Promise,” she said waiting for her best friend to interlock pinkies.
Ali knelt down and locked her pinky around her childish friend. “I promise.” As soon as the words came out of her mouth and past her lips Penney pulled her down to the floor with her. “Wow,” Ali said in disbelief.
“Let’s go,” Penney sang as she got up and ran for the door.
Jason: Chapter 1
CHAPTER #1:
Twas the night before Jason’s big interview, and he couldn’t stop pacing in his mother’s boxy living room. He kept rehearsing on what to say for his interview. Eventually his mother had enough of his pacing and came down from her room. When she saw her baby boy she could see the anxious look on his face. It was beat red and beads of sweat were running down his head.
“Jason you won’t be able to keep your head up during the interview if you don’t get some sleep,” his mother said from the bottom step.
“I know mother I just want to make sure everything is perfect,” he tells his mother. She steps off the bottom step and walks over to her son. She was tiny but her arm made it right on his check. She tapped it twice then walked back towards the step unable to find any words that would comfort her son. “I love you too,” he said as she went up stairs.
Jason shook himself off and turned off all of the lights downstairs. He walked over to the front door to make sure it was locked. KNOCK, KNOCK. Someone knocked at the door. Jason looked threw the murky hole in the door. When he saw who it was he quickly opened it.
“Who is it Jason?!” his mother yelled from her room.
“It’s Mitch,” he shouted back.
“Hi Mitchy,” she yelled from her room.
“Hello Mrs. Witman,” Mitch yelled back.
“Don’t keep my boy up to late. He’s got a big fancy interview tomorrow,” she yelled down.
“I won't, have a nice night,” Mitch said.
“Thank you, you little sweet chocolate angle ” she yelled one final time.
“Sorry,” Jason let Mitch and and shut the door.
“No problem, don’t forget to lock the door,” Mitch reminded him. Jason turned around to go lock the door. When he turned back around Mitch has disappeared. “Oh no where did I go,” Mitch hauntingly said from his hiding spot.
“Come on Mitch this isn’t funny,” Jason said slowly walking onto the living room.
“BOO!” Mitch jumped out form his hiding spot grabbing Jason from behind. Jason’s body jolted from the scare and he tensed up. Mitch wrapped his arms around him tighter and Jason eased up. “I have something to tell you,” Mitch lift Jason with a cliffhanger as he let him go and scrambled downstairs to the basement.
Jason reluctantly followed him to the basement afraid of what Mitch might do next. When he got to the top of the stairs all of the lights were on in the basement. Which wasn’t Mitch’s amo. Jason half jogged down the stairs to see Mitch laying on his bed like a french women holding a piece of paper in the air. “What’s that?” he took it out of his hand and sat at the edge of his bed.
“Read it and weep baby. I Mitchel Ronald Washington am a proud renter of my very own apartment,” he sang.
Jason turned around and congratulated him with a kiss, “I can’t believe it you did it.” Mitch pulled him back in not ready for his congratulations to be over. Jason pulls back, “Mitch hold up I forgot to shut the door.”
“Who cares of your mother catches us you can just come move in with me,” he bit his bottom lip.
“Yes, but I want to move in with you because I want to. Not because I have to,” Jason told him. Then he quickly ran upstairs and shut the door to the basement. When he returned back downstairs Mitch was already in his boxers flipping through channels. “I will never understand how you can get undressed so quickly.”
“It’s a superpower. My mother told me that when I was younger she had to put two pairs of clothes on me. But that never stopped me. I remember this one time when I was at a ski lodge I had two pairs of long johns on, jeans, and sweatpants,” Jason cut him off with a french kiss.
“I’m really happy for you,” Jason told him as he stared into his eyes. Mitch grabbed onto his shirt and took it off of him. “Be careful Mitchy. You know I’m fragile,” Mitch apologized with a tongue kiss. “Apology accepted.”
Mitch then carefully unbuttoned his pants, slid the zipper down, and slowly took off Jason’s jeans. “Is that careful enough for you,” Mitch snickered. Jason didn’t say anything he knew once Mitch got this way there was no turning him off.
Mitch pulled him down on the bed and they began kissing.
